East Coast Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Biswajit Sahu told the media that track restoration work is underway. Track recovery work has started after the rescue operation is over. Buses and trains have been arranged for the stranded passengers. He also said that it is planned to clear the track by 4 pm.

Meanwhile, after the Sunday evening accident, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnab spoke to Chief Minister YS Jagan and informed about the steps taken to help the victims of the train accident. A statement from the Andhra Pradesh chief minister’s office said the government would pay Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 2 lakh to the seriously injured. The state government will give Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the seriously injured.
